Supporting the underdog (er, bird)

“Maya” has several meanings from around the world: “love” in the Nepalese language; the pleiad Maia in Greek myth; the name of Buddha’s mother, among others. In the Philippines, “maya” is a type of small bird with several species, seen everywhere but often ignored. For us, the maya bird aptly represents social enterprise—not lacking in abundance but lacking in attention and support. We believe that social enterprises are part of a fast-growing sector that has the potential to greatly succeed in the long run. Thus we formed Supermaya — a strategic visual communication, branding, and graphic design consultancy that helps socially conscious organizations clarify and express their core message.
